Adidas was founded in 1924 by brothers Adolph and Rudolph Dassler in Germany under the original name of Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. In 1949, Adolf “Adi” Dassler and his brother parted ways, with Adi taking over the brand and renaming it “adidas” for the first three letters of both his first and last names.
