The shoe was originally released in 1997 and designed by Tinker Hatfield, who designed so many of Nike’s iconic shoes. Hatfield took inspiration from one of Jordan’s nicknames: Black Cat. Hatfield then modeled these shoes after a panther, with an outsole that looks like a panther’s paw. The top has a cat's-eye iteration of that famous Jumpman logo.
